I’ve written in a variety of styles and genres, including literary and mainstream novel-length fiction for adults and children, screenplay, essay, short story, and nonfiction. My published writing includes articles for national and regional magazines, websites, and newspapers, book reviews, essays for anthologies, newspapers, magazines, and public radio, fiction for children's magazines, nonfiction bookazines for Source Media Interlink, and a nineteen-year (and counting) stint as essay columnist for a regional newspaper named the BlueStone Press.
Writing awards include winner of the AJL's 2015 Sydney Taylor Manuscript award for my middle grade novel, first place in the Highlights for Children Magazine’s annual fiction contest, second in San Francisco PenWomen’s Soul Making essay contest, winner of Just Effing Entertain Me screenplay competition's Best 500 Word Essay contest, quarterfinalist in the Women’s More Magazine/Women in Film /Hollywood Reporter’s screenplay contest, quarterfinalist in the BlueCat screenplay contest.
My work is represented by literary agent Emma Parry of Janklow and Nesbit Associates, and my children's historical novel, Viva, Rose! will be published in spring 2017 by Holiday House Books for Young People.
